PS5 stock update: More bad news for Sony following PlayStation 5 re-stock woes

PS5 stock shortages have seen Sony take a hit on consumer website Trustpilot.

PS5 re-stock issues have been a constant since pre-orders went live for the console in late 2020.

PlayStation 5 consoles have typically sold out within minutes of going on sale, leading to months of frustration for gaming fans.

Things haven’t been made any easier by bots and scalpers, who are re-selling units for inflated prices.

With Sony failing to communicate with customers, fans have started posting negative reviews on sites like Trustpilot.

Following the launch of the PlayStation 5, the Sony UK Trustpilot rating has dropped to just 1.7 stars.

Reviewers have criticised Sony for bad planning, and for failing to communicate when PlayStation 5 consoles would be back in stock.

Obviously it’s not a complete disaster for Sony, because the PS5 continues to prove popular whenever it’s on sale.

Things should also get better in February, especially if reports of a big stock drop prove to be accurate.

There are even reports that Argos may have PS5 stock in the early hours of January 24.

While there have been lots of conflicting reports about Argos re-stocks, some claim that units will be available from 1am UK time.

“Argos employees have reported handling several PS5s in preparation for the launch,” reads a PS5 UK Stock tweet. “Several employees have said we should be expecting a drop between 1am and 4am today or tomorrow night unfortunately.”

While Sony may have taken a hit on Trustpilot, anybody lucky enough to actually secure a console is in for a treat.

The new PlayStation device has some fantastic features to go with its killer launch line-up.

Most notable of all is the DualSense controller, which makes use of advanced haptic feedback to mirror the action on screen.

In games like Astro’s Playroom, for example, you’ll feel it when your character walks on ice, or is blown backwards by a strong gust of wind.

Adaptive triggers are also used to better mimic the sensation of firing a gun, or pulling back on the strings of a bow.

The adaptive triggers are best demonstrated in games like Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War, Fortnite and Borderlands 3, where different weapons provide different levels of resistance.

It will be interesting to see how games like Horizon Zero Dawn 2 use the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, especially considering the emphasis of hunting hulking beasts with high-tech bows.
