UFC superstar Conor McGregor has been hit with a multi-million pound lawsuit by two women, days before he is set for a return to the sport.
The Irishman vowed on Wednesday to fight the personal injury and assault lawsuits brought against him by the women over events that allegedly took place in 2018.
McGregor, 32, has denied all wrongdoing after High Court proceedings were initiated in Dublin yesterday by the women, believed to be a mother and daughter.
One is suing the Dublin-born fighter over an alleged assault. The other is taking a personal injury action against him.
The nature of the allegations against McGregor cannot be disclosed for legal reasons. A second defendant is also listed on the court filing.
Irish police had previously investigated the allegations against McGregor, but no action was taken.

‘After an exhaustive investigation conducted by the Gardaí which, in addition to interviews of the plaintiff, included interviewing numerous sources, obtaining witnesses’ statements, examining closed circuit footage and the cooperation of Conor McGregor, these allegations were categorically rejected,’ Mr McGregor’s spokesperson Karen J Kessler said in a statement.
‘The plaintiff knows the facts contradict the assertions in this lawsuit. Mr McGregor will dispute any claims and is confident that justice will prevail.’
The women now have a year to file papers against McGregor, with their lawyers – Coleman Legal Partners – declining to comment publicly on the case.
The law firm specialises in personal injury and medical negligence, according to their website.
McGregor is currently in Abu Dhabi training for an up-coming fight against Dustin Poirier on Sunday morning, his first fight in around a year.
The former UFC champion has faced a range of other criminal and legal charges in recent years, during which he has left and returned to the sport a number of times.
He pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct after he threw a metal dolly at the window of a moving bus carrying other UFC fighters in April 2018.
He was found guilty and sentenced to five days of community service, and was ordered to take between one and three anger management classes.
In March 2019, he was arrested in Miami Beach and was accused of breaking a man’s phone. The case was dropped, as was another lawsuit after McGregor reached an out-of-court settlement with the man.
McGregror also pleaded guilty to assault in November 2019 for punching a man in a Dublin pub, and was fined £890.
At the time, the court heard that the fighter had 18 previous convictions, the majority of which were related to road traffic offences.
Last September, McGregor was arrested after an alleged sexual assault and indecent exposure in a bar on the island of Corsica. He has denied all wrongdoing in the case, and was released from custody without charge.

After a period out of the sport, McGregor returned to fighting in the UFC, only to lose to bitter rival Khabib Nurmagomedov.
He then took a 15-month hiatus, before returning to the ring again 12 months ago to fight Donald Cerrone, who he beat inside just 40 seconds.
If he defeats Poirier – whom he last faced in 2014 – he could get another shot at the title either against champion Nurmagomedov, or the next available contender if he retires.
McGregor has a long term partner, Dee Devlin, whom he has been with since 2008. The pair share two children together.
