Tottenham have reportedly shelved contract talks with Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min until they have a clearer picture of their financial position amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
The club’s revenues have been decimated by the pandemic and they have now deiced to hold off renewal negotiations with Kane and Son, who are two of their highest-earners.
Jose Mourinho said last month that it is impossible for clubs to tie down their star players while there is so much uncertainty but Spurs are hopeful of agreeing new deals for both Kane and Son once their finances become more secure.

The Evening Standard claim the club are not in any rush to get Son signed to a longer-term deal with the forward still having two-and-a-half years remaining on his current one and will shelve all contract talks with other senior players who have time left on their present deals.
Son has underlined his importance to Spurs this season with stunning performances and scored his 100th goal for the club in their 3-0 victory over Leeds at the weekend.
The South Korea international, who has been linked with Real Madrid recently, would likely seek improved terms in the near future to take him closer to Kane’s £200,000-a-week wages, the same report claims.

Kane has attracted interest from Manchester City but Spurs are conscious it is not the right time to discuss a new deal with their star striker, who has three-and-a-half years still to run on his deal.
Club captain Huge Lloris is out of contract next summer but no talks are currently being held about an extension despite interest from Paris Saint-Germain.
Serge Aurier and Erik Lamela also only have 18 months remaining but Spurs are planning to make a decision on their future later down the line.
The club’s finances have been hit hard by the ongoing shutout of fans, having only recently spent £1billion on their new stadium, and posted losses of £63.9million for the last financial year.

The situation around fans returning remains unclear with the UK once again plunged into a lockdown amid rising numbers of Covid-19 cases, which is making it hard for clubs to plan for the future.
Asked about Son’s contract last month, Mourinho said: ‘How can you sign a new contract with a player? You don’t know what is going to happen next season.
‘You don’t know if you can offer the player a better contract than they have now. It’s a very strange moment. I just trust Sonny and Daniel Levy.
‘I know that both want him to stay, if possible, for life, if possible until the end of the career.
‘I see Sonny signing a new contract here, but…I don’t press for something to happen now because probably it’s not the right moment.’
