Black-ish creator Kenya Barris files a restraining order against his sister Colette amid fears ‘she’s going to harm’ his six children

Black-ish creator Kenya Barris filed a restraining order against his sister Colette.

The Girls Trip writer filed the temporary order amid fears ‘she’s going to harm’ his six children, according to TMZ.

He claims that Colette’s multiple attempts to launch her own shows and profit off of his name have been met with little success, and he now fears she may retaliate against his kids.

Kenya has six children with wife of 20-years, Rania ‘Rainbow’ Barris. 

The couple have battled their own differences in and out of court rooms, but most recently put a divorce on hold with a reconciliation.

The married couple on black-ish played by Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross is loosely based on the Barrises, and Kenya Barris has said in interviews that the recent relationship struggles seen on the show have reflected his own. 

The Coming 2 America writer documented years of alleged incidents in which Colette ‘piggybacked on his name and their familial relationship to hook herself up with opportunities in Hollywood.’

Kenya ‘alleges Colette recently sent him a legal demand letter’ which states he must fund a movie project in the amount of $4million to bring her book to life on the big screen.

Colette is reportedly upset with Kenya for his lack of help in getting her own projects off the ground.

Kenya described several instances where his sister used his name, which caused some executives to feel ‘pressure to help Colette due to pending projects with him.’ 

He also claims she has ‘demanded he take care of her and their extended family with cash.’
