Zlatan Ibrahimovic claims AC Milan is the only club where he has felt at home during his career as he looks to fire the Rossoneri to a first Serie A title in a decade.

The Swedish striker has played for clubs all around the world in an illustrious career, including Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and LA Galaxy in America – though has named current club Milan as his favourite club.

The 39-year-old won the Scudetto with Milan back in 2011 before moving on to play for other European giants but Ibrahimovic claims he still has the same buzz he felt during his first stint at the San Siro.

He told Gazzetta dello Sport: ‘I have played with many clubs and have respect for all my clubs, great memories – but Milan is the club where I feel at home.

‘I go to Milanello (the training ground) every morning and I am in no hurry to go home, because I am at home. I felt like this the first time I came to Milan, it was 2010.

‘With (former Milan chiefs Adriano) Galliani and (Silvio) Berlusconi, with the team, everyone who worked there, there was another feeling, another atmosphere. They made you feel at home.

‘I liked it because I could be myself and at the same time I was playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world. This is why Milan is top of the top for me.’

Milan have started this season brightly with Ibrahimovic leading the line and are yet to lose in the Italian top-flight this season.

A last-gasp 3-2 win over Lazio this week gave the Rossoneri a one-point lead over city rivals and second-placed Inter Milan going into the winter break, with Ibrahimovic’s side winning ten out of their 14 matches this season.

The Swedish striker has been imperious in front of goal with ten goals in nine Serie A matches despite his season being affected by two separate muscle injuries and a battle with coronavirus.

Ibrahimovic, who rejoined the club in January and is leading the club on an unbeaten run in the league leading back to March, says winning is a must for him as Milan threaten to end Juventus’ dominance at the Serie A summit.

The striker added: ‘Victory is my drug. It’s hard to explain, but when I’m on the pitch I have to win. At all costs, always. I have a 95% winning rating in training, in practice matches. It’s not a lie.

‘When I lose, you see, but it doesn’t happen often because I don’t lose. I’m fixated on winning, maybe a bit too much.

‘Maybe it’s understood with the team too, as in the draw with Parma – maybe six months ago they would have been happy, but this time they were all angry, the next day they still were.’

Current Milan chief executive Ivan Gazidis, who held the same role at Arsenal until 2018, claims the club are yet to agree a contract renewal with Ibrahimovic with just six months left on his short term deal.

Gazidis told Gazzetta: ‘We haven’t talked about the renewal yet. It will be a decision not only of the club, but also his. He is a special person with extraordinary motivation and great intelligence.

‘This combination gives him great strength in everything he does. We had already tried to sign him in January 2019, but he told us no because the story with the Galaxy wasn’t over.

‘Ibra makes the group improve because he challenges you to give more, and this challenge is accepted by everyone, players and clubs. He makes the difference.’
