I wouldn’t have been upset with Last of Us or Ghost winning, but Last of Us is definately my pick.
The game was handled with incredible skill even down to the bait and switch pre release material that had us all thinking we knew what was going to happen but then pulled the rug out from under us in a way that gave the game even more emotional impact at the beginning than the first game which I thought was impossible.
We can argue about things that happened that we didn’t want to happen or plotholes based on us thinking we know the characters better than the people that created them and have them life, but in the end it’s still a masterpiece.
An emotional rollercoaster that everyone who played it felt it, even if they hated it. Were still talking about it with great passion and we will for years. No one played it and walked away saying meh, which is a far greater crime for a game in my book than a character behaving in a way we didn’t like.
