Maisie Smith to be crowned youngest Strictly winner as new data shows U-turn in popularity

Maisie Smith is the youngest Strictly Come Dancing contestant and she is set to make history should she life the Glitterball Trophy like Mediaworks predicts. Over the past couple of months, Express.co.uk has been given exclusive data from the digital marketing agency which suggests who is the most popular on social media and therefore, most likely to avoid the dreaded dance off. But tonight, as the nation’s favourite dance competition draws to a close, they have tipped the EastEnders star and her professional dance partner Gorka Marquez to lift the Glitterball Trophy, following an extremely tough nine weeks of convincing the judges and the public she deserves to perform on the dance floor.

The final social sentiment score is in for the four Strictly finalists, and a clear favourite has emerged; Maisie Smith.

Over the past week, a sample of tweets about each celebrity contestant has been analysed to gauge public opinion on the show.

A score is then given – which can range from -10 to 10 – determining their popularity amongst Strictly fans and therefore, suggestion whether they will win.

Maisie sits top of the chart with a score that has been slowly rising to 1.56.

As for who will narrowly miss out on lifting the Glitterball Trophy, it seems the public are finally backing Jamie Laing.

The Made In Chelsea star who has been in the bottom two the most amount of times in the show’s history seems to have proved he is worthy of a place in the grand final.

His social sentiment score is 1.11.

As for the bookmakers favourite, Bill Bailey is in third position on the chart with a score of 0.35, while YouTube sensation HRVY sits bottom with a score of 0.28.

Mediaworks has correctly advised six out of seven eliminations through the series, representing an 86 percent strike rate.

“Me and my family have been fans of this show since I was a baby, to bring the Glitterball home to my family, it would mean a lot because I know how proud they be of me.

“I would love to win it for you [Gorka] as well because we work super, super hard,” she added.

And Gorka continued: “I hope we win it so I can thank you for all the work you’ve done, you’ve been working us every day, putting in so many hours and working with a smile even on the dance floor even when you have criticism, you have smile and keep pushing yourself.

“It would be the best end, the best Christmas present for both of us.”

It comes after the judges; Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse have compared Maisie’s dancing abilities to that of a professional.

Head judge Shirley said Maisie’s Viennese Waltz “was one of the most beautiful” she has seen and said their Street/Commercial routine was “one of the best numbers” she has witnessed.

Craig also commented on Maisie’s ability to “smash” the extremely difficult timings in her week seven Jive.

Whether Maisie wins the 2020 series or not, she has certainly impressed.

Strictly Come Dancing concludes tonight on BBC One.
