Jose Mourinho: Klopp should NOT have won FIFA's Best Manager of The Year

Jose Mourinho whips up war of words with Jurgen Klopp once again as Tottenham boss suggests his rival should NOT have won FIFA’s Best Manager of the Year award

Jose Mourinho had another sly dig at Jurgen Klopp by suggesting he should not have been voted top coach at this week’s FIFA Best Football Awards.

Just days after telling Klopp that ‘the best team lost’ after his Tottenham side were beaten 2-1 at Anfield by Liverpool, Mourinho was on the front foot again on Friday.

Asked what he thought of Klopp’s award, he said he thought Bayern Munich coach Hans-Dieter Flick should have won it instead.

‘I think the only chance for Flick to win is if Bayern find two or three new competitions for him to win,’ said Mourinho.

‘So maybe if he wins seven titles in one season, maybe he wins the award.

‘I believe he only won Champions League, the Bundesliga, German Cup, European Super Cup and German Super Cup.

‘He only won five, including the biggest one of all.

‘Poor Flick. I think the only chance is for Bayern to find two or three more trophies to see if he can win it.’ Klopp himself was surprised to win the award, presented in Zurich.

The Liverpool manager said afterwards: ‘I don’t know why people voted for me. Flick deserved it for his titles.’
