Despite Gary’s actions the loanshark does care about Kelly – will he convince Maria to adopt the schoolgirl?
The actress was asked if Maria knew at the back of her mind something wasn’t right with Gary when she married him or was she convinced she’d get her happy ending.
“Maria is gullible but she’s not completely gullible; she knows that it must be quite serious if the police are questioning him and he’s been telling her for ages that Rick’s gone off to Spain,” Samia said.
“No one really knows where he is and some people are asking more and more questions now so she can’t ignore it even if she wants to. She can’t ignore it this time.”
