FKA twigs EXCLUSIVE: Singer pictured for the first time since accusing ex Shia LaBeouf of abuse

The singer FKA twigs was spotted out in London on Sunday, marking her first public sighting since she filed a lawsuit against her ex-boyfriend Shia LaBeouf that accused him of sexual battery and assault.

The 32-year-old singer–songwriter was out on a relaxing stroll with her current boyfriend Matt Healy, 31.

FKA twigs (real name: Tahliah Barnett) looked stylish in a large brown plaid coat that hung loose on her and kept her warm on the overcast day.

Barnett’s double-breasted coat reached nearly down to her footwear and covered up a black graphic hoodie that peaked over her collar.

She also had on a casual pair of baggy scarlet pants covered in thick black patches.

The former backup dancer raised her stature with a pair of black platform boots, and she covered up her multiple blonde braids with a weathered beige baseball cap. 

Like his girlfriend, Matt is a musician and part of the acclaimed English rock group The 1975.

In addition to playing rhythm guitar and singing lead vocals, he has produced the band’s albums and written the lyrics for most of their tracks.

On Sunday, he shared a photo of Barnett to Instagram that appeared to have been taken on their stroll, as she was wearing the same outfit.

She beamed while looking over her shoulder as he serenaded her in the emoji-laden caption.

He called her a ‘legend,’ an ‘icon’ and the ‘loml [love of my life]’ between bursts of rainbows, flowers and crowns. 

Twigs and Healy were first linked in January of this year, and he confirmed rumors that they were together when he shared a photo of her sitting on his lap in February, shortly after both performed at the NME Awards.

On Friday, The New York Times reported that Barnett had filed a lawsuit against her previous boyfriend Shia LaBeouf for sexual battery, assault and emotional abuse. 

In her lawsuit, which she filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, she described a history of ‘relentless abuse’ during their relationship.

The artist, who released her critically acclaimed album Magdalene last year, also accused the actor of knowingly giving her a sexually transmitted disease.

She claimed that LaBeouf physically assaulted her during an argument in public at a gas station, and that he locked her in a room during another intense argument as she tried to leave Los Angeles to head back to her home in London.

Shortly before the alleged assault at the gas station, Barnett claimed she woke up to the Even Stevens actor choking her.

LaBeouf allegedly had a minimum number of times per day that he required her to kiss and touch him.

She described being terrorized at night, when he required her to sleep in the nude.

According to her, he kept a loaded handgun by the bed, and she feared getting up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night out of fear that he might mistake her for an intruder and shoot her.

The singer and LaBeouf met during the filming of his 2019 film Honey Boy, which he wrote about his history of child abuse and starred in as his own father, and they began dating after filming had completed.

Later on Friday, Twigs shared a tweet thread in which she opened up about her lawsuit and abuse allegations.

‘It may be surprising to you to learn that i was in an emotionally and physically abusive relationship,’ she began.

‘it was hard for me to process too, during and after i never thought something like this would happen to me.

Barnett continued: ‘which is why i have decided it’s important for me to talk about it and try to help people understand that when you are under the coercive control of an abuser or in an intimate partner violent relationship leaving doesn’t feel like a safe or achievable option.’

She added: ‘i hope that by sharing my experience i can truly help others feel like they are not alone and shed some light on how those who are worried somebody they care about may be in an abusive relationship can help because i understand it can be confusing and hard to know what to do.’ 

On Saturday, the Australian singer Sia came forward with her own allegations about LaBeouf, who starred in the video for her son Elastic Heart with Maddie Ziegler.

‘I too have been hurt emotionally by Shia, a pathological liar, who conned me into an adulterous relationship claiming to be single,’ she tweeted.

‘I believe he’s very sick and have compassion for him AND his victims. Just know, if you love yourself – stay safe, stay away,’ she added.

On Sunday, Barnett tweeted: ‘I’m sorry @Sia this reinforces why I had to publicly share my experience. We need to support each other.’

In a separate tweet, she added: ‘Love you back @Sia you’re an inspiration and thank you everyone for your love and solidarity.’
