Alli 'set to leave Tottenham in January transfer window with club respecting five years' service'

Dele Alli ‘set to leave Tottenham in January transfer window with Premier League leaders allowing departure out of respect for his five years’ service’ with PSG ready to make loan move

  • Dele Alli has not started a Premier League game since the opening weekend
  • Alli was an unused Tottenham substitute against Royal Antwerp on Thursday
  • PSG are preparing another loan offer for January after failing in the summer
  • And Spurs are set to grant Alli a move as respect for his service to the club

Tottenham are set to allow midfielder Dele Alli a move away from the club next month, according to reports.

The out-of-favour 24-year-old has not started a Premier League game since the defeat by Everton on the opening weekend of the season and was an unused substitute in the Europa League win over Royal Antwerp on Thursday.

It appears clear that Ali is no longer part of Spurs boss Jose Mourinho’s plans and according to The Telegraph, he will now be granted permission to leave as a mark of respect for his five years of service to the club.

Sportsmail revealed on Friday that French champions Paris Saint-Germain are set to make another loan move for the midfielder when the January transfer window opens in three weeks’ time.

And the report adds that while Spurs would prefer a club to match Alli’s market value, a six-month loan would be considered given that it could lead to potentially his asking price to increase if the move is successful.

PSG made a number of loan offers for the England international in the summer transfer window, but faced refusal on each occasion from Daniel Levy, who refused to sanction his exit.

Alli has made only one top-flight appearance since coming off at half-time in the defeat by Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton — a 21-minute cameo in the 6-1 win at Manchester United in October.

Alli is open to leaving the Premier League leaders as he seeks first-team football, and has not given up hope of making England squad for next summer’s delayed European Championship.

However, the midfielder acknowledges that only by getting regular playing time will he stand a chance of earning a recall from Gareth Southgate.

Alli has netted twice in his eight appearances this season and reached double figures for goals in his first three seasons in the Premier League following his move to Spurs from MK Dons in 2015.

Reports however claim that Mourinho is keen to keep Harry Winks, who has only featured in Europa League group-stage matches during the last two months.

Winks has been unhappy with his lack of game time this campaign and looked similarly frustrated at being taken off against Antwerp.
