Piers Morgan hits back at claims Giovanna Fletcher could replace him on GMB: 'Who is she?'

Piers Morgan, 55, addressed claims made by Mario Falcone that his sister Giovanna Fletcher, who won the latest series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, could be set to replace him on Good Morning Britain. The acclaimed journalist did not hold his tongue, as he took to social media to speak on reports that the mummy blogger could take his job.

Piers retweeted a link to an interview with former The Only Way Is Essex star Mario Falcone, who shared his sister will now proceed to have a lucrative career in TV presenting.

Mario told The Sun: “She [Giovanna] has that warmth and she’s very engaging.

“I think people will like that positivity. If she’s the first face you see in the morning on your TV, you’re gonna have a good day.

“So I’d be very surprised if someone doesn’t snap her up for presenting.”

When pressed on what kinds of shows Giovanna would like to present, Mario suggested she become a host on GMB.

“Maybe she can replace Piers Morgan [on Good Morning Britain].

“He’s a bit of d**k, let’s end his reign of terror and replace him with someone who’s really positive.”

However, Piers did not find the suggestion to be amusing as he responded: “Great idea. Who is she?”

Mario thinks replacing Piers with Giovanna will not only do wonders for GMB’s ratings and also lift the mood of the nation.

He continued: “Imagine how good people would feel, their figures would be amazing, they’d get the MPs on and they’ll all feel good about life.”

It comes as yesterday Giovanna was crowned the first-ever Queen of the Castle, after storming to victory in the show’s 20th series that took place at Gwrych Castle in North Wales.

The show is usually based in the Australian Jungle, however, owing to flight restrictions and social distancing guidelines it was forced to take place in the UK this year.

Over on Instagram, her husband and McFly frontman Tom Fletcher posted how “proud” he and their sons were of how far she had come.

He typed: “Me & the boys are SO PROUD of everything you’ve represented over the past few weeks. Strength. Happiness. Kindness. Compassion. Questionable choices of music.

“Jokes aside this has just confirmed what we knew all along… you are THE QUEEN! Thanks so much to everyone that voted for Gi and backed her, the support we’ve had has been truly amazing!

“She is a genuinely brilliant woman, wear that crown with pride Mumma Gi! Me and the boys can’t wait to see you soon x x x.”
