Clarkson, 38, has River Rose, six, and Remington Alexander, four, with Blackstock, 43, and he has two teenage children from his previous marriage to Melissa Ashworth.

‘As women, we’re trained to take it all on and you can deal with it and you’re fine, but it’s your babies that you worry about,’ Clarkson added. ‘That’s a hard thing as well.’

Clarkson and her husband of seven years are in the process of hashing out a divorce settlement and custody agreement.

He also asked for $2 million in attorney’s fees.

The duo reportedly have an ironclad prenup which was signed five days before they married in 2013. In June. Clarkson asked the judge to honor the prenup and not award Blackstock any spousal support.

Blackstock, a music manager and the stepson of country star Reba McEntire, made the request after Clarkson was awarded primary custody of their kids this week. While the duo will share joint physical and legal custody.

Blackstock, who lives in Montana, had requested to take the children there with him while they are in his care.

He will have the children on the 1st, 3rd and 5th weekends of every month but the judge rules that he must remain in Los Angeles for the majority of the time. He has been permitted to take the kids to Montana on the 3rd weekend of the month.

A source told People magazine of Blackstock’s monetary request: ‘He has been equally unreasonable in his requests for child and spousal support, as well as attorney fees.

‘Kelly offered to pay for all the kids’ expenses, but Brandon seems to think he is entitled to and needs $301,000 in spousal support and $135,000 in child support per month.’

A court document obtained by People read: ‘The level of conflict between the parents has increased,

‘The parties have a difficult time co-parenting due to issues of trust between them.’

As part of their latest agreement, the two have agreed that they will ‘not speak in a derogatory manner about the other parent to the minor children’ or consume alcohol or marijuana within eight hours of driving a car with the kids.

She said: ‘I am a very open person, but I’m not going to be able to be truly open about this in certain aspects because there’s kids involved …

‘I think that I will navigate a way in which to be open and honest about it eventually, probably via the show, and it’ll probably, I’m assuming, happen organically when someone says something in conversation or something. It definitely wouldn’t be planned.

‘But my children and his older children – there are a lot of little hearts involved in this and while people feel, “Oh my gosh, what a loss …” imagine how it is in the epicentre of the storm.

‘It’s a lot to process and deal with, just as a family. So because it’s not just me, I probably won’t go too deep with it.’
