Death in Paradise star Ben Miller's return confirmed by BBC despite character being dead

Ben, 54, made his exit from Death in Paradise back in 2014 when his character DI Richard Poole was sensationally killed-off. This would make it very unlikely for the beloved detective to return but for season 10, BBC bosses are making it happen. Speaking on Wednesday evening’s edition of The One Show, host Alex Jones, 43, announced the exciting news for fans.

The presenter had been joined by Commissioner Selwyn Patterson star Don Warrington, 69, and Florence Cassel actress Josephine Jobert, 35, live from Guadeloupe.

It was the duty of the actors to reveal Ben would be returning to the show but technical errors took them off-air at the most inconvenient of times.

Having to take over the reins, Alex explained to viewers: “I think they’ve frozen but Ben Miller [will be returning].

“Now. what we can’t tell you is how he is coming back because, of course, he was killed off in season three.

“That’s not spoiling it, it happened ages ago,” she added, before discussing how the deceased character could make a comeback.

The show’s official Twitter account also teased Ben’s return to the show by sharing a sneak-peak of his appearance in season 10.

DI Poole’s former colleague Camille Bordey (Sara Martins) is seen staring into space as her friend walks towards her.

It is yet unknown if this is simply a figment of her imagination or whether the deceased character is returning from the dead.

A caption alongside the clip read: “Okay. Are you sitting comfortably? You’ll want to be sitting down for this one.”
