Sophie, Countess of Wessex, 55, and Prince Edward, 56, support a number of charities which means they are often seen out and about together. Sophie also has charity interests of her own and has become heavily involved with charity work and will regularly appear at events by herself.
“Sophie seems to have given her husband the trick of relaxing and showing happiness and joy in public.”
This can be seen on a recent outing when the couple were joined by their children, Lady Louise Windsor and James, Viscount Severn, in Southsea when they were dressed in their casual clothing taking part in the Great British Beach Clean.
Prince Edward appeared to be much more relaxed and showed happy facial expressions like smiling and laughing.
Judi went on: “All their recent appearances, including the very tricky one when they had the job of providing a human buffer between William and Harry at their last public outing together, have shown them looking actively happy and delighted with each other.
“Maturity and parenthood seems to suit them, as does the way the power-balance has come down firmly in Sophie’s favour, with Edward apparently happy to take a bit of a back seat.”
Looking at a recent photo of the couple from last month when they were attending Vauxhaull City Farm, they can be seen smiling and joking while feeding the animals.
According to Judi, their body language looked similar to their early days in the spotlight, with there being some signs of tension.
The expert said: “His grin mirrors hers, suggesting shared fun, although there are some signs of effort or tension in both of their hand gestures, hinting at a desire to get things right as royals.
“Sophie’s hands are folded tightly over her small bag, while Edward’s partial clasp involves some slightly uneasy palm-rubbing.
“These rituals suggest they share the desire to take their royal appearances seriously despite the appearance of fun.”
Despite this, Judi explained that overall, her confidence has increased over the years.
Judi added: “Sophie has always looked like one of the most quietly self-assured and calm royals but her confidence signals have definitely increased over the years.
“Like Kate she has been asked to step up following the family rifts and scandals and, like Kate, she appears to have exceeded expectations.”
Being a member of the Royal Family comes with a lot of duties and rules to follow.
The body language expert said that Sophie seems to have done this elegance.
Judi explained:” Sophie has stepped into the royal spotlight with elegant, calm-looking ease and no fussing or emotional displays.
“Her maturity and experience, and her rather old-school style of royal behaviour helps create the sense of continuity that the royal institution thrives on.”
