  • ‘Why is he afraid of Stacey Abrams? We don’t need the ballots — we only need the signed envelopes!’

Donald Trump has demanded to know why ‘so-called Republican’ Brad Raffensperger, the Georgia Secretary of State, is not allowing his legal team to view signatures on mail-in ballots.

The president even suggested that Raffensperger may have refused because he was scared of influential Democrat Stacey Abrams, who has been credited with helping Georgia turn blue in the election.

‘Why isn’t the Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, a so-called Republican, allowing us to look at signatures on envelopes for verification? We will find tens of thousands of fraudulent and illegal votes,’ Trump tweeted late Tuesday night.

‘This could also be very helpful to Sen. David Perdue and Sen. (Kelly) Loeffler. Why is he afraid of Stacey Abrams? We don’t need the ballots — we only need the signed envelopes!’

Yesterday, it was announced that Georgia would recount their votes for the third time since the presidential election.

Raffensperger told Fox that despite the third count he still expects to see a ‘very similar’ result to the original.

‘When we did the first audit, we found mistakes in three counties and that added over 1,000 votes for President Trump …’ Raffensperger told the show’s host Neil Cavuto.

‘That has all been accounted for, and so I think this one will be very close to what we just have now. I don’t see much difference whatsoever.’

In the aftermath of the election,Raffensberger was criticized by both sides of the political spectrum.

He said that some people are unable to handle the idea that President Trump was the first Republican to lose Georgia in almost 30 years.

Raffensperger told Cavuto that some people ‘just can’t handle’ the fact that President Trump became the first Republican presidential candidate since George H.W. Bush in 1992 to lose Georgia.

‘We told the [Trump] campaign if they find instances of voter fraud, we will check it out,’ he said. ‘We have not seen widespread, systemic voter fraud that would overturn the results of the people.’

Trump directed his own attack at Raffensperger, criticizing his oversight of the election.

Georgia Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler, both up for reelection in January , have called for the secretary of state’s resignation.
