PS5 re-stock plans revealed by Sony: PlayStation 5 is back in time for Christmas

Sony has great news for PS5 customers who missed out on launch day stock.

With unprecedented demand for the next-gen PlayStation, fans have had a tough time getting hold of the console since its November release date.

Indeed, demand has been so high that the PS5 is officially Sony’s biggest console launch ever.

And it looks like PlayStation 5 sales are about to get an even bigger boost, as Sony confirms plans to release additional stock before the end of the year.

“We want to thank gamers everywhere for making the PS5 launch our biggest console launch ever,” reads a Sony tweet.

“Demand for PS5 is unprecedented, so we wanted to confirm that more PS5 inventory will be coming to retailers before the end of the year – please stay in touch with your local retailers.”

Based on Sony’s latest comments, it looks like there’s a chance customers will be able to bag a PS5 during the holiday season, hopefully in time for Christmas.

Additional PS5 stock has been released in small quantities since launch, with retailers like Currys, GAME and Walmart all re-stocking the console.

The news is certainly a lot more positive than it was earlier this week, when Sony executive Jim Ryan said that the PS5 was completely sold out.

“Everything is sold. Absolutely everything is sold,” Ryan revealed during a recent interview.

“I’ve spent much of the last year trying to be sure that we can generate enough demand for the product.”

“And now in terms of my executive bandwidth I’m spending a lot more time on trying to increase supply to meet that demand,” he added.

Ryan’s efforts have clearly been successful following the news that more stock will be available this year.

Anybody who does manage to get hold of a PS5 is in for a treat, because the console is most definitely worth the asking price.

Not only do PS5 games look absolutely stunning, but the improved frame-rates result in a much smoother gameplay experience.

After consistently playing games at 60 frames-per-second, you’ll find it hard to go back to anything less.

The loading times are also much improved thanks to the console’s solid-state drive. It’s especially noticeable when fast travelling in games like Spider-Man Miles Morales.

Fortnite, meanwhile, loads up in a matter of seconds, compared to minutes on the original PlayStation 4.
