Marks & Spencer launches 'amazing' new mince pie cookie – but some shoppers are divided

With Christmas fast approaching, festive food is already lining the shelves in supermarkets. Marks & Spencer has delighted shoppers with a new take on the classic mince pie.

The generously sized snack features a mince pie topping of mincemeat.

The all-butter cookie also features a luxurious filling of spice fruit.

The snacks can be picked up freshly made from the bakery section of M&S Foodhalls.

The retailer shared a snap of the winter treats in a post on social media yesterday.

DON’T MISS

The message on Facebook read: “Is it a mince pie? Is it a cookie?

“No, it’s our MINCE PIE COOKIE, oven baked from our in store bakery.

“A deliciously squidgy, buttery cookie with our exclusive-recipe mincemeat baked inside, this is pure festive joy in glorious cookie form.”

The picture has already gathered 1,300 ‘likes’ and more than 1,000 comments from customers.

While many are excited to try the product, or have already sampled the treat, some shoppers are less convinced with the new invention.

One said: “Now I like mince pies and I like cookies but I’m not too sure about this, sorry M&S Food.”

A second agreed, stating: “I just want a mince pie. just a plain simple one, nothing too fancy, but we shall see.”

A third added: “Have to say I’m not feeling it. Why the need to combine the two? If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.”
