Miley Cyrus reveals she's been sober for two weeks after she 'fell off' during the pandemic

Miley Cyrus has admitted she is sober again after falling off the wagon during the pandemic.

The 28-year-old singer talks about her sobriety in a new interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music’s New Music Daily and reveals she stopped drinking two weeks ago.

‘Well, I, like a lot of people, being completely honest, during the pandemic fell off and felt really a lot of … and I would never sit here and go, “I’ve been f—ing sober.” I didn’t, and I fell off and I realized that I now am back on sobriety, two weeks sober, and I feel like I really accepted that time,’

‘One of the things I’ve used is, “Don’t get furious, get curious,”‘ she added. ‘So don’t be mad at yourself, but ask yourself, “What happened?”‘

The singer explained she didn’t want to talk publicly about breaking her sobriety in recent months but knows she feels her best when she’s not drinking.

‘To me, it was a f*** up because I’m not a moderation person, and I don’t think that everyone has to be f***ing sober,’ she explained.

‘I think everyone has to do what is best for them. I don’t have a problem with drinking. I have a problem with the decisions I make once I go past that level of … Even into, I’ve just been wanting to wake up 100 percent, 100 percent of the time.’

The Midnight Sky hitmaker admitted it’s not been too challenging for her to be sober because she has great self-control.

‘I’m very disciplined,’ she said. ‘Yeah, very disciplined. That’s why it’s never easy, but it’s pretty easy for me to be sober or in and out of sobriety because it’s like the day I don’t want to f***ing do it anymore, I don’t. The day that I do, I do. You know? But when I don’t want to it just is. I’m just very disciplined.’

In June, Miley revealed she’d been sober for six months after having surgery on her vocal cords.

She told Variety: ‘I’ve been sober sober for the past six months. At the beginning, it was just about this vocal surgery. … But I had been thinking a lot about my mother. My mom was adopted, and I inherited some of the feelings she had, the abandonment feelings and wanting to prove that you’re wanted and valuable.

‘My dad’s parents divorced when he was 3, so my dad raised himself. I did a lot of family history, which has a lot of addiction and mental health challenges. So just going through that and asking, “Why am I the way that I am?” By understanding the past, we understand the present and the future much more clearly. I think therapy is great.’

She also talked about the stigma around being a young person and not drinking.

‘It’s really hard because especially being young, there’s that stigma of “you’re no fun,”‘ she said. ‘It’s like, “Honey, you can call me a lot of things, but I know that I’m fun.” The thing that I love about it is waking up 100%, 100% of the time. I don’t want to wake up feeling groggy. I want to wake up feeling ready.’
