Johnny Depp fans have watched the actor endure quite a lot this year. Over the past 12 months the star has been involved in a court case against a publication which called him a “wife beater”. Over the course of this legal battle, his private life with ex-wife Amber Heard was laid bare for all to see, seeing him apparently lose his spot in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
Shortly after the court case was closed, it was also announced that the 57-year-old was axed from his role of Gellert Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts franchise.
The star gave a statement on his Instagram account, explaining that Warner Bros. asked him to “step down” from the role.
Now, Depp has had a win, as his latest film, Minamata, was featured at the Cameraimage International Film Festival.
The actor won the Actor with Unique Visual Sensitivity award, and was apparently ecstatic to receive the gong.

Earlier this week the future of Depp’s place in the upcoming sixth Pirates of the Caribbean film was teased.
While rumours have been rife surrounding the actor’s removal from the Disney franchise, nothing official been announced just yet.
In an interview about her new film, Dreamland, Margot Robbie recently spoke up about rumours she was going to be joining the series.
First, the Harley Quinn actor promised it would include “lots of girl power”.
She went on to reference her Birds of Prey director, Christina Hodson, supposedly confirming her involvement in the film.
Robbie said: “It’s too early to talk about it. I love Christina, obviously.
“I’m not a producer on Pirates, so I’ll sit back and kind of wait for the process.
“We’re really, really excited at the prospect of adding, obviously, a very key female element to that world.”
