Man is stabbed to death outside a dollar-slice pizza takeout in Midtown Manhattan as NYC violence continues to surge

A man has been stabbed to death in Midtown Manhattan. 

The incident happened around 9.15pm outside 2 Bros. Pizza at Eight Ave and West 38th Street. 

It’s unclear what led to the attack and cops are hunting for the suspect.

Edgar Pol, who works at nearby Wok Stop told the New York Daily News: ‘People just started yelling out of nowhere and people kept circling around this guy.

‘I saw the guy on the ground. Paramedics showed up and started giving him CPR.’

The victim, who is believed to have been in his 40s, was taken to Bellevue Hospital and declared dead at 9.40pm. 

There has been an uptick in crime in the city amid the pandemic.

According to NYPD statistics as of Saturday there has been 405 murders so far this year compared to 295 for the same period in 2019. That’s an increase of 37.3 per cent.

The number of shooting victims and shooting incidents has also increased dramatically. 

So far this year there have been 1,667 victims. That’s compared to 828 for the same period last year – a rise of 101.3 per cent.

And the number of shooting incidents has risen by 94.7 per cent from 698 for 2019 to 1,359 so far this year.
