Aldi launches premium food range half the price of the M&S gastro collection

Aldi, known for their cheap grocery prices, has announced a new food line which is available in the discount retailer right now. The ready to cook meal range includes main meals and sides to create the perfect restaurant quality dinner from home.

The range of premium food launched into Aldi stores yesterday and can be found in the supermarket nationwide.

According to Aldi, the collection costs almost 50 percent less than the M&S alternative, with prices starting from £1.99 and meal pairings coming in at less than £10 for two.

Gastro dishes include Slow-cooked Texas BBQ Brisket, juicy Salt and Chilli Rib Rack, and Mac & Cheese with Pancetta.

The brisket, along with the Honey & Apple Pork Belly fish are both slow cooked to produce mouth-watering meat.

Other options in the range include cottage pie, moussaka, lasagne, BBQ pork shoulder and lamb shoulder which can all be paired with an Aldi wine.

The lasagne costs just £3.99, compared to the £8 beef lasagne in the M&S premium range.

There are also fish options including their Fish Pie which is packed with succulent fish and prawns in a creamy sauce which is topped with mashed potato.

However, not all of the products were half the price of Marks and Spencer’s equivalent food items.

The sides, including the chips and dauphinoise are available for £1.99, only 76p less than Marks and Spencer’s £2.75 equivalents.

For those visiting an Aldi to complete their grocery shop, they should be mindful of the current safety rules that have been implemented by the supermarket.

In a recent letter to customers, Aldi CEO Giles Hurley told customers what they can expect when they next visit one of the stores.

He said: “The majority of our stores are open from 8am-10pm every day (Sundays 10am-4pm) and our amazing colleagues are on hand to help you shop safely and find everything you need in store.

“Our shelves are fully-stocked and every Aldi store gets regular deliveries, at least once a day. There’s no need to buy more than normal, so please shop considerately.

“For our vulnerable and elderly customers every Monday to Saturday, all our stores remain open 30 minutes prior to their usual opening times to ensure that you can shop as safely as possible.

“For all groups entitled to a Blue Light card, including NHS and social care workers, our priority access remains in place. These groups continue to have exclusive access to our stores 30 minutes before normal opening on Sundays in addition to priority access at all other times.”

The supermarket has also recently increased its Click & Collect service to help customers pick up their groceries without having to go into the store.

Customers can choose from a full range of grocery items online and then drive to their local store where they can pick up their shopping completely contact free.

Those who use the new service will be offered specific time slots to arrive at dedicated click and collect points in Aldi car parks where they can pick up their shopping.
