Tommy Hilfiger sells his Connecticut mansion for $47.5 million before moving to Florida

Tommy Hilfiger has sold his Connecticut mansion for $47.5million after less than three months on the market.

The legendary fashion designer, 69, sold the Greenwich property – which has landmark status – ahead of a planned moved to Palm Beach, Florida with his wife Dee Ocleppo Hifliger, 53, the New York Post reported.

The home seems to have been priced to move, as the Hilfigers sold it ‘after just four showings, and three great offers,’ a source told the Post.

The stately mansion was put on the market in September at an asking price of $47.5 million, and it was quickly snapped up.

The main home on the property dates back to 1939, and it features lovely French turrets that give it a palatial feel.

The 22-acre property features elegantly sculpted hedges, and its new owner will be able to wander through its rose garden, or delight in the topiary garden.

The estate also features decorative water fountains, and there’s a pool to cool down in on a hot summer day.

Hilfiger purchased the home back in 2010 at a price of $31.4 million, though it underwent three years of renovations.

Occlepo, a fashion designer in her own right, described being in the home as feeling as if they were in ‘the English countryside’ while speaking with Architectural Digest in 2017.

However, she appreciated how close they were to New York City and other population centers.

In the same interview, her husband revealed that the renovations were so extensive that they went down to ‘every doorknob’ in the mansion.

The main residence has a massive 13,344 sq. ft., with six bedrooms.

The home, which is a comfortable commute away from New York City, includes views of the Manhattan skyline and the Long Island Sound.

The home has a church-like atmosphere thanks to its stained-glass panels, and guests will be able to stay cosy on blustery winter nights thanks to its six fireplaces.

Though the mansion is more than 80 years old, it has the modern touch of a home theater.
