‘I am so bad… it is a really strange phenomenon’: Frank Lampard admits he can’t remember the biggest moments of his career, including Didier Drogba’s dancing after Chelsea’s Champions League triumph over Bayern Munich

Frank Lampard has enjoyed some of the greatest moments a footballer could ever dream of but now reflecting back on his playing days, the Chelsea boss has admitted he struggles to remember the most special occasions from his career.
Lampard, who goes down as arguably Chelsea’s greatest ever player, won it all for the club – including three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, the Champions League and the Europa League.
Capturing the Champions League title in 2012 against Bayern Munich on penalties – in which Didier Drogba scored the winning spot-kick on the German side’s home turf – remains Lampard and Chelsea’s biggest triumph to date.

But much to Lampard’s frustration, the now Chelsea manager has admitted he can’t really remember his proudest achievements – most notably the Champions League triumph and Didier Drogba’s dance moves on the way back from Munich.
Speaking on the Eddie Hearn: No Passion, No Point podcast, Lampard revealed: ‘Christine my wife jokes at me all the time because she will go “do you remember that? Do you remember when we travelled on the way back from Bayern Munich when you won the Champions League and Drogba was dancing and all that?”
‘I can hardly remember a thing, it’s something that I not get upset about, but I just wish I could have those moments.
‘I am so bad with those things, and it’s a really strange phenomenon for me.

‘Even though I know I have been like that, and I want to sit and take a moment, I still don’t do it. I still don’t.’
Lampard, who scored an incredible 210 times and produced 151 assists from midfield in 648 appearances for Chelsea, ventured into the world of football management after he hung up his boots.
Lampard enjoyed his first taste of management with Derby in the Championship during the 2018-19 season before taking a huge step further up the ladder with his beloved club Chelsea.
But Lampard revealed that despite his achievements with Derby, taking them to the Championship play-off final to many’s surprise, he struggles to cherish the good times from the campaign.

‘When we got to the play-off final with Derby last year – a bit of an achievement – we lost the game but I still look back and go where did we stay in the hotel?,’ Lampard told boxing promoter Hearn.
‘How did we warm up that day? What could I have done better? What about if they do this, what about if they do that? All these things I am thinking about.’
Lampard’s stock has continued to rise since leaving Derby for Chelsea, where he played between 2001 and 2014.
In his first season in charge at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea qualified for the Champions League and reached the FA Cup final – where they were defeated by Arsenal.

And after a shaky start to the 2020-21 campaign, Lampard’s side are in very impressive form currently – having won their last four matches in all competitions.
The Blues have shored up massively in defence, conceding just once in their last six matches.
And Lampard will be desperate for his side, who sit fifth in the table at present, to continue their hot streak when they take on Newcastle away in the Premier League on Saturday lunchtime.
