Fans will get to see episodes of Jeopardy! hosted by the late Alex Trebek until Christmas Day, though Thursday’s episode hit home in a quite special way.
Thursday marks World Pancreatic Cancer Day, the same disease Trebek passed away from at the age of 80, with the host offering a special message before the show.
While Trebek never mentioned his own plight with pancreatic cancer in the message, he urged all of his fans to heed the warning signs.

‘Before we get into today’s match, a word about today. Today is World Pancreatic Cancer Day,’ Trebek began.
‘If you or anyone you know has developed some of the symptoms that I have talked about in the past, then, by all means, get to a doctor, get yourself tested,’ he added.
‘I want you to be safe. This is a terrible, terrible disease,’ Trebek concluded.

The Jeopardy Twitter also shared a message about World Pancreatic Cancer Day, including a photo of Trebek with his wife Jean.
‘Today is #WorldPancreaticCancerDay. Wear purple in honor of Alex, and help raise awareness for the risks and symptoms of pancreatic cancer,’ the tweet read, with the hashtag #ItsAboutTime while tagging @worldpcc.
The photo also included a quote from Trebek’s wife Jean, who said, ‘It’s about time we stop taking for granted the preciousness of each day and start living in the full experience of kindness and coherency.’

Trebek revealed in March 2019 that he was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer, and while his prognosis was not great, he still planned to fight the disease.
He offered another update in May, stating he was responding well to the treatment, and that some of the tumors had shrunk in half.
Trebek passed away on November 8, with the show confirming he filmed episodes up until October 29, with his final episode set to air on Christmas Day.

He hosted a number of game shows including High Rollers, The Wizard of Odds and the $128,000 Question throughout the 1970s and 1980s.
He started hosting Jeopardy! in 1984, and at one point he hosted three shows at the same time, Jeopardy!, Classic Concentration and To Tell the Truth, the first person ever to host three shows at the same time.
