Kate Middleton's body language show turning point in 'tense' relationship with Queen

Kate Middleton has been part of the Royal Family for nearly 10 years. During this time, she has apparently formed a close relationship with Queen Elizabeth II, 94. Kate as been married to Prince William, both 38, since April 29, 2011. She became the granddaughter-in-law of the Queen and started to attend events with the monarch.

While they seem to have a close relationship now, body language expert Judi James claimed this has not always been obvious.

She told Express.co.uk: “Her first outings with the Queen showed some clear signals of anxiety and tension from Kate in between the smiles and moments of conversation, resulting in some rather rigid poses and tense facial expressions.

“Clearly keen to do everything right she sits and stands in a way that looks elegant but very self-conscious and the signature dimpled smile is missing.

“The tension is visible as the Queen looks to one side while Kate stands almost to attention on the other.

“Kate’s hands appear to be balled into fists, again suggesting a desire to get everything right while she’s with her grandmother-in-law.”

The expert suggested Kate could have been nervous as she tried to impress the monarch.

Over the years, the Duchess of Cambridge has taken on growing responsibilities.

This may have helped boost her confidence and become a popular royal in her own right, the expert added.

“She seems happier to acknowledge that she is popular in her own right now and that she has earned the respect and possibly admiration of the Queen too.

“The body language signals between the Queen and Kate currently suggest a very relaxed, warm and relatively easy-going friendship with both women enjoying the other’s company.”

Since Kate married Prince William, she has been preparing for an important role in the future.

Prince William is second in line to the throne and will probably be King one day, which will make Kate the Queen Consort.

The royal line of succession – who outranks who?

The line of succession to the British throne dictates the order in which each member of the Royal Family would ascend to the throne.

It is also seen as a ranking of importance with the head of the line, the Queen, taking the place of ruler.

Older children come before younger children. Traditionally boys came before girls, but this law was changed on 26 March 2015 before the birth of Prince William’s first child.

Incredibly, Catholics are still excluded from the line of succession, as are children born outside of wedlock.

The royals, who usually stick to a strict protocol when appearing in public, often arrive at events in ascending order of importance, with the most important royal arriving last.

Prince Charles, 71, is currently first-in-line to the British throne, followed by Prince William, 38, his oldest son.

Then comes Prince William’s children, George, seven, Charlotte, five, and Louis, two, and they are followed by Prince Harry, 36. Prince Harry is succeeded by his son Archie Harrison, born in May 2019.
