Deontay Wilder has come up with yet another bizarre excuse for his defeat by Tyson Fury in their heavyweight rematch.
The American has been widely ridiculed for his array of strange reasons for losing against the ‘Gypsy King’ back in February but shows no signs of stopping.
His latest outlandish theory is that Fury’s fingernails penetrated the boxing gloves and caused cuts within his ear.

The ‘Bronze Bomber’ said: ‘I haven’t yet heard valid proof of how gloves flap all the way back, why your hands were in the middle of the glove, why did my ear have scratches deep inside my ear? Because of your (Fury’s) nails,’ Wilder told Brian Custer on The Last Stand PodCast.
‘It’s so many different facts and proof that we have. But it just shows the greatness of it.
‘He cheated. He flat out cheated
‘That wasn’t the best man. That was a coward. He got a long reputation of being a known cheater. And if you known to be a known cheater, why you gonna stop now?
‘The gist of it, if they have the opportunity to cheat and you don’t cheat, you’re known as a sucker.’

His comments follow on from the video posted on social media in which Wilder reeled off a list of conspiracies he believes about the fight.
The 35-year-old said: ‘I saw in the first fight when Ricky Hatton was pulling down your gloves to put your hand in the improper position.
‘Y’all tried the same method the second time, but this time, you scratched flesh out of my ears which caused my ears to bleed.
‘It’s impossible for a brand new 10 ounce glove to bend, to keep a smushed-in form or to have loose space. I highly believe you put something in your glove. Something the size and the shape of an egg weight.
‘It’s the reason why the side of my face swelled up in an egg weight form and it left a dent in my face as well. But in the midst of it all, you still couldn’t keep this king down.

‘You would have had to kill me. In the end, it took a crab in the bucket referee and a disloyal trainer to throw the towel in just to stop me.’
Aside from the fingernails, egg weights, referee and trainer, Wilder also previously claimed the weight of his walkout costume had tired him out.
The ring entrance outfit weighed 40lbs and Wilder said: ‘He didn’t hurt me at all, but the simple fact is that my uniform was way too heavy for me.
‘I didn’t have no legs from the beginning of the fight. In the third round, my legs were just shot all the way through.
‘But I’m a warrior and people know that I’m a warrior. It could easily be told that I didn’t have legs or anything.’

He also believes his water was spiked before the fight, saying: ‘Until I went to the ring. That transformation, I was drinking certain water and stuff, trying to keep myself hydrated.
‘I just start feeling weird. My water was spiked as if I took a muscle relaxer or something like that.
‘It wasn’t just the suit, my water was tampered with…
‘This feeling here, it was a different feeling. It was like I had no control over my body, my legs was weak and stuff like that.’
The American has been widely criticised for his excuses, not just by fans but also those in the boxing community.
Fury himself hit back at the outlandish claims, telling TalkSPORT: ‘I think he has lost his marbles!
‘First of all it was the suit, then it was the bicep injury, then his trainer was on our team, then the referee was against him, then I had weights in my gloves…
‘Now someone has spiked his water… It’s one of those things, isn’t it.’
His former trainer Mark Breland wrote: ‘I’ve been boxing since I was eight years old. So I didn’t give a big portion of my life to this sport, I DEDICATED MY ENTIRE LIFE TO THIS SPORT! But I have never seen the things I’m seeing now in ALL of those years!’
Tony Bellew added: ‘Whatever he’s been smoking it needs to stop… it’s absolutely insane’, while Ricky Hatton told the heavyweight he needs to ‘shut his mouth’.
Mike Tyson even weighed in, saying Wilder ‘needs to get his head out of his butt’.
There had originally been a third fight between Wilder a Fury planned but a mediation process is currently underway which could take some time to resolve.
