Mark Baker, who runs the Trust, said: “The plan is for it to be a visitor attraction, with landmark trust apartments within the castle, so you can actually stay there.
“That’s the long term plan, the castle doesn’t have electricity or water so that’s one of the big campaigns at the moment, and we are fundraising.”
The campaign is called Turn the Lights and Taps On, and details on how the public can get involved can be found via the trust’s website.
The castle would make a comfortable venue for guests, with Baker explaining how the climate is not as desolate as fans may think.
He said: “It’s got its own microclimate, it’s in a secluded position so when you have horrific storms, the castle is very sheltered.”
He said the area sees mild winters as they do not get much snow by the coast, however visitors can expect plenty of rain.
The campmates have been lighting plenty of fires to keep themselves warm, but hopefully by the time members of the public can stay at the castle, there will be plenty of alternative ways to warm up.
