Sir Ian Botham’s grandson James has earned his first senior international call-up – for Wales.

The Cardiff Blues flanker, 22, who was born in the Welsh capital while father Liam played on the wing for Cardiff RFC will join Wayne Pivac’s squad ahead of the Georgia match this Saturday.

Botham played for Wales’ under-18s and under-20s sides having been educated at Sedburgh School, who produced the likes of Will Greenwood and Will Carling.

Scarlets wing Johnny McNicholl, 30, is also back in the updated squad – the four-cap winger made his Welsh debut in February and is back from an ankle injury.

Wales will make significant changes for the Georgia match in Llanelli this Saturday in the Autumn Nations Cup, despite having lost six in a row.

They are still waiting for news on Jonathan Davies, who injured his knee against Ireland during the 32-9 defeat.
