Nigella Lawson's weight loss is down to avocados and yoga

Nigella has discussed her approach to food on numerous occasions. She has emphasised that she does not diet.

She told fans in a recent interview: “Lockdown showed people who don’t consider themselves confident cooks, that cooking is all about improvisation. It gave them confidence.

“You are not talking about making showstoppers. You’re talking about cobbling things together to make supper.”

She claimed lockdown is helping Britons focus on and enjoy their food.

“I think we all learned over lockdown that thinking about what to eat, cooking it, sitting down to what we’ve cooked, really gave a focus to our lives that we were grateful for,” Nigella told the Daily Star Sunday.

She has said: “I love kale and I’m an avocado obsessive.”

As for her favourite exercise, Nigella turns to yoga to help her feel healthy.

She said: “I do yoga three times a week.”

The chef added that exercising in a way she enjoys is important to her.

She went on: “I have to do something I enjoy, otherwise I wouldn’t do it.”

Nigella told Good Housekeeping: “The older I get the more I realise I have got to do lots of stretching. So even if I’m not doing yoga, I make myself do lots of stretching.

“As you get on in life, you value feeling well as opposed to looking well. Yoga certainly makes you feel great, and you want to carry on feeling great. I just do a bit in a very slow way – sometimes lying down.”

Another British TV regular, A Place in the Sun Laura Hamilton’s diet and fitness regimen helped her lose five stone.

“I cut out a lot of sugar and carbs and since then I’ve tried to stick to a low sugar diet,” Laura told YourHealthyLiving.co.uk.

In the past Laura has discussed her fitness regimen with Express.co.uk.

She said: “It’s so hard trying to balance it all as a working mum and I find if I book regular classes or gym sessions in, I find I stick to it just as I would a work appointment.”

The presenter went on: “If you don’t have access to a gym you can find some great workout ideas online.
