Ronan Keating fears COVID-19 will stop him seeing his dad, 80, at Christmas

Ronan, 43, who lives in London, is praying there won’t be a lockdown extension, forcing him to have a “digital Christmas” with his dad Gerry, a former lorry driver who lives in Ireland.

“I haven’t seen my dad since January. He had his 80th birthday three weeks ago, which was very difficult and none of us could see him, so that’s been very hard,” confesses the star, whose daughter Coco was born during lockdown.

“He hasn’t even had a chance to meet his granddaughter yet. My brother Gerrard is the closest geographically.

“It’s hard for me but Gerrard is there, as is my other brother Gary and my sister, Linda.”

He added: “I do hope they (the Government) are making us do this now, so that we can enjoy Christmas with our families and loved ones.”

Ronan has released a new album, TwentyTwenty, which celebrates his 20 years as a solo artist and also features duets with Emeli Sandé, ShaniaTwain and RobbieWilliams. It is out now on Decca Records.
