Donald Trump nearly acknowledges election defeat as he doubles down on lockdown stance

The US President stated that his administration will not implement a national lockdown as it could cost $50 billion a day. He added “who knows” which administration will be in charge of leading the country through the next phase of the coronavirus pandemic.

Mr Trump said: “According to some estimates a national lockdown costs $50 billion a day and hundreds of thousands of jobs every single day.

“Ideally we won’t go to a lockdown.

“I will not go – this administration will not be going to a lockdown.

“Hopefully whatever happens in the future, who knows which administration will be.

“I guess time will tell. But I can tell you this administration will not go to a lockdown.

“Lockdowns cost lives and they cause a lot of problems.”

Despite Joe Biden surpassing the 270 points needed to win the election, Mr Trump has refused to concede defeat.

President Trump has repeatedly claimed that voter fraud was involved in the US election despite no evidence of this.

“How strong can depend on the political and personal relationship between the leaders of each of these countries.

“With Boris Johnson and Joe Biden what is the starting point? Well, they have never met.

“Last year Joe Biden described Boris Johnson as a physical and emotional clone of Donald Trump.

“Then there is Brexit which Joe Biden thinks is a bad idea.

“Taking the UK out of the EU is, of course, the lynchpin of Boris Johnson’s premiership.”
