Liverpool offered Daryl Janmaat after Joe Gomez injury as one Reds star backs January deal

The injury pile-up means Liverpool could look at short-term cover and TEAMtalk claim Janmaat has been touted as a potential solution.

The Dutchman is without a club after leaving Watford in October following their relegation from the Premier League.

Georgino Wijnaldum, who played with Janmaat at both international level and with Newcastle, has reportedly gave Liverpool bosses a glowing assessment of the versatile defender.

As well as being able to deputise for Alexander-Arnold at right-back, he can also play in central-defence, making him a potentially interesting addition.

Meanwhile, Wijnaldum has refused to comment on speculation linking him with an Anfield exit.

The 30-year-old’s contract with the Reds is set to expire at the end of the season and despite talks with Klopp, he has yet to sign a new one.
