First Dates star and paramedic Laura Tott heartbroken having to enforce Covid rules

First Dates star Laura Tott, 25, has discussed tackling the coronavirus pandemic on the frontline with the NHS as a paramedic. The Channel 4 favourite’s heart broke for one patient as she detailed the “hardest thing” she has faced on a hospital ward.

In an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, Laura addressed the most difficult moments over the past year, away from her TV commitments.

The First Dates waitress revealed she and her colleagues often feel like the enemies when turning away the relatives of the patients, as they are not allowed to have visitors due to the social distancing measures in place.

Laura divulged: “I think the hardest thing at the moment is not being able to take relatives to the hospital.

“We’re like the messengers, saying, ‘Sorry, there are no visitors allowed’.”

Laura continued: “You’ve taken people in during probably one of the scariest moments of their life and then you’re going, ‘You’re not allowed to take your relatives.'”

The Channel 4 personality said she had to turn someone away recently, who was worried it would be the last time they’d see their dad alive.

“We had someone the other day and they were seeing their dad, and they said, ‘This could be the last time I see him,’ and that breaks your heart.

“You feel like the bad people,” she said.

“So on the way home, you kind of put yourself in the patient’s situation and you have a little bit of a think on the way home.”

She concluded: “But as soon as you walk in the door, you try and switch off.”

Aside from her duties on the COVID-19 frontline, Laura has been working on Aunt Bessie’s new campaign, which features inspirational characters sharing their roast dinner stories.

After a tough week of night shifts, Laura loves nothing more than tucking into her mum’s special roast dinner, with the addition of her unique stuffing recipe, giving her that taste of home.

Speaking about working with the food brand, she discussed: “I’ve always used Aunt Bessie’s Yorkshire Puddings, they’ve always been a part of our household since I was a kid.

“Aunt Bessie’s products definitely help make life a little easier, which allows me to spend more time with my loved ones.”

Laura has teamed up with Aunt Bessie’s to share how she prepares her traditional roast dinner.
