A Sparkling Dessert Collaboration

The new midnight purple sparkling berry punch sorbet from Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams is made with Chandon brut sparkling wine, and let me count the ways you can use it: a palate cleanser before the parade of pies or instead of the pies altogether; a spoonful to drop into a glass of sparking wine before or after dinner; or a tart companion to scoop alongside the pie. It’s a partnership between Jeni Britton Bauer, the founder of Jeni’s in Columbus, Ohio, and Pauline Lhote, the head winemaker at Chandon in Yountville, Calif. The sorbet doesn’t actually sparkle but does deliver piquant fruit.
