Maureen Lipman left wanting plastic surgery after looking like a 'peregrine falcon' on TV

Dame Maureen Lipman, 74, is considering going under the knife after looking at recent footage of herself on a recent ITV job. The Coronation Street actress has however said she would be frightened to death of a botched job as she wants to improve the “two sacks” under her eyes.

After seeing a clip of herself under unflattering lighting, Maureen said: “I thought, ‘My God, you’re growing to look like a peregrine falcon, Maureen, with a disproportionate beak’.

“What can I do? Everyone’s having stuff injected into their faces… I’m frightened to death – I know what would happen.

“It would all coagulate in one place,’ she added.

The star has banned Coronation Street bosses from putting her in sex scenes, as she insisted that her character on the soap would never remove her vest.

Maureen who plays Evelyn, a classic soap battleaxe, has become gentler after falling for Arthur played by Paul Copley.

It’s a new side to Evelyn as the pair plan a romantic weekend away together just the two of them but end up rowing.

When Evelyn decides to make it a month-long trip rather than a weekend Arthur gets rattled and begins making excuses before hurrying to getaway.

The actress said: ‘She has strong feelings for Arthur and gives him plenty of slack because she knows her predilection for emasculating men who fancy her.

“Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned,” she added.

On the topic of her recent Damehood, the actress revealed that she doubts it will be received in person from the royals owing to the recent lockdown.

“I don’t suppose I’ll get it,” she told Twiggy’s Tea With Me podcast.

“I expect Sophie the Duchess of Wessex will chuck it at me across Jo Allen’s.
