The Blues fell behind early in the game through a David McGoldrick goal, but responded well and could have added more to the scoreline thanks to a glut of opportunities.

Ziyech said his new side responded well to the early setback, and that his understanding of how the team plays is improving game by game.

‘We played a good game, the first 10 minutes was a little bit difficult [and] we started sloppy but after, we controlled the game. We played well again,’ he told Sky Sports.

‘They like when you play the ball into feet. I saw [Mateo] Kovacic running in the space [for the first goal] and sometimes you have to give those balls and they [the defence] don’t know what to do.
