England and Chelsea players Callum Hudson-Odoi and Fikayo Tomari have explained to Chelsea that they misunderstood London’s Tier 2 lockdown rules last month when dined out together.
Footage was leaked to the Daily Star from Hudson-Odoi’s private Snapchat account in which he had posted a video of the pair at a restaurant at a time when the rules stated that separate households could only meet outside but prior to the national lockdown, which started this month.
Because Hudson-Odoi and Tomori are part of an elite sporting bubble at Chelsea, they thought that meant they were able still to socialise together.

Fikayo Tomori, who was with Hudson-Odoi, has also told Chelsea he did not realise the rules
Premier League players are tested weekly for coronavirus and Tomori and Hudson-Odoi would have spent all day at work together under the exemptions for elite sporting bubbles.
However, at that stage you could only meet with own household indoors, not your work bubble.
The players are not expected to face disciplinary action but are likely to be warned to ensure they are clear on rules, especially with the new lockdown being more stringent.

When contacted for comment by Sportsmail, Chelsea said the players will be reminded of their responsibilities.
Hudson-Odoi visited a swanky west London restaurant with Tomori as the pair enjoyed a night out together.
In the video Hudson-Odoi sent to friends on social media, Tomori is seen dancing in his seat with loud music blaring in the background and the pair were reportedly joined by at least one other person at the Mayfair venue.
The England winger sings along in the clip, tagging Tomori in the post which he captioned: ‘my guy’.

In another video he laughs as his team-mate asks him for his PIN number while waiters ask him to pay the bill.
This is not the first time Hudson-Odoi has been caught breaking lockdown rules since they were first introduced in March.
The winger first broke restrictions in May after he took a model he had reportedly met online back to his apartment.
Hudson-Odoi tested positive for coronavirus in March meaning Chelsea staff and players had to self isolate and the winger subsequently urged people to be ‘careful’ about Covid.
