Tess Daly apologises to Strictly Come Dancing viewers after unfortunate presenting blunder

Tess Daly, 51, was once again on hand to host proceedings on Strictly Come Dancing as the remaining 11 contestants took on Movie week. One performance which stood out from the rest was Made in Chelsea star Jamie’s after he performed a Charleston to the soundtrack of Disney’s Hercules. However, the routine was rather comedic and had the presenter and the judges of the BBC dance programme in hysterics, which led to an unfortunate blunder unravelling.

After Jamie and his professional dancing partner Karen Hauer, 38, received their scores from the panel, it was time for the host to welcome the next couple to the dance floor.

Unfortunately, she was caught completely unaware as when she returned to the screen, she was still laughing and almost choked on her own saliva.

Tess seemed quite composed but as she tried to introduce Clara Amfo, 36, her voice went off-piste before she put her hands to her mouth.

“Excuse me, but Jamie in that wig,” she said before carrying out her duties but she still had to issue an apology.

“Sorry,” the presenter whispered to viewers watching at home as the sequence rolled to bring the next couple to the stage.

By the time Tess returned to the screen to get the judge’s comments for Clara’s performance, she had finally regained her composure.

Taking to Twitter, viewers commented on the moment, with one writing: “Why did Tess say sorry earlier? #Strictly.”

Another added: “You alright there Tess love, you need a glass of water? #Strictly #SCD #StrictlyComeDancing.”

Whilst a third commented on the presenter’s reaction to Jamie’s performance: “Tess, it wasn’t that funny…..was she trying to hide a cough #Strictly.”

Ahead of week three of the competition, the game changed as comedian Bill Bailey, 55, rose from the ashes and is now the third favourite to win the Glitterball Trophy.

According to the latest odds from Coral bookmakers, Oti Mabuse, 30, and her partner stand at 4/1 to become champions.

They had previously been at 50/1 to land victory but it seems the professional dancer is on course to receive her second consecutive win.

However, continuing to lead the way is EastEnders actress Maisie Smith, 19, who is the frontrunner at 2/1.

The soap star’s closest competitor is singer HRVY, 21, who stands at 9/4 to claim victory when the show ends next month.

Coral spokesperson Harry Aitkenhead said: “Maisie and HRVY lead the way, but Bill Bailey has been the real star of the show so far.

“We gave him a two percent chance of victory when the line-up was convinced but the odds just keep tumbling and that figure is now at 20 percent.”

Hot on their heels is actress Caroline Quentin, 60, who is currently in the fourth position in the winning polls at 10/1.

Strictly Come Dancing: The Results airs Sunday at 7:15pm on BBC One.
