South Dakota girl, 11, goes missing after an argument at home as police seek a car that made a U-turn where the sixth-grader was seen walking

A South Dakota sixth-grader went missing Thursday morning after she left home following an argument, and police are asking the public’s help as they search for her.

Nakia Jackson, 11, was last seen walking north on Minnesota Ave. near Sioux Falls Regional Airport around 7:15 a.m. after she left her home near North Duluth Avenue and First Street, police spokesman Sam Clemens told the Argus Leader .

A dark-colored car driving south on Minnesota Ave. made a U-turn at the intersection of South Jaycee Lane around 7:13 a.m., surveillance video shows.

That’s a little over a mile and a half from Nakia’s home.

The car, then facing north, stopped on the east side of Minnesota Avenue.

Police believe Nakia would have been walking at that time near where the U-turn took place and are seeking witnesses.

Police flew a drone Thursday in an attempt to locate the girl.

Nakia is 5 ft. tall, weighs 130 lbs., and was wearing light-colored pajama bottoms and a black short-sleeved shirt.
