Tesco lockdown rules: What are the rules at Tesco during second lockdown?

England is back in lockdown, and new measures will stay in place for four weeks, until December 2. As a result, people must adhere to social distancing rules and only go outside for essential reasons, such as exercise, buying essential food and goods, to work if they cannot work from home or if there’s an emergency.

Tesco has not updated the rules at its stores, however, the existing ones will remain in place.

The opening hours changed earlier this year and all Tesco stores will continue to close at 10pm.

Some of the larger stores will open at 8am.

Tesco said: “We’re asking other customers to respect this and not to go to stores at this time.

“This will take place in all Extras, Superstores and Metros. It won’t be available in our Express stores.”

Signs to help people keep their distance will also be in place at Tesco stores nationwide.

Tesco has also said measures have been taken to ensure essential products are available.

The supermarket said: “To make sure more people have access to everyday essentials, we’ve introduced a limit of 95 items per online order.

“As our stock levels are starting to return to normal, we’re removing purchase limits on most of our products.

“On some essentials such as toilet roll, pasta and hand sanitisers, we’ve kept these limits until we’re fully stocked up again.

“We continue to encourage customers to buy only what they need, to help make sure there’s enough for everyone.”

The Government has published a list over businesses permitted to stay open during lockdown.
