Who is winning the US election – Donald Trump, or is Joe Biden winning?

Americans across the country have cast their ballots in one of the most divisive presidential elections in decades pitting the Republican incumbent leader Donald Trump against the Democratic challenger Joe Biden. Throughout the election, Mr Biden has consistently been ahead in the polls, but many state polls indicate the race is closer in key states which could decide the outcome. But is Donald Trump or Joe Biden winning the presidential election race?

The US election 2020 has broken records in terms of early voters.

In total, more than 100 million ballots were cast before election day this year equating to more than 72 percent of the total number of early votes cast in 2016.

The US Elections Project, which has tracked the total number of early votes cast in person or via absentee ballots, found 44.9 percent of these early voters were registered Democrats.

This compares to 30.5 percent who were registered as Republicans.

Of the remaining early votes, the US Elections Project found 23.9 had no registered party affiliation and 0.7 percent of voters were registered with minor candidates.

As Florida’s votes are counted and leaning towards Mr Trump, bookmaker Betfair predicts the race will be tighter than predicted.

Betfair spokesperson Darren Hughes said: “Donald Trump has begun a storming run in the betting in the last hour, as his odds have crashed from 2/1 (33 percent) to 5/4 (45 percent), as early polling numbers look good for the incumbent President.

“Trump’s odds in Florida have crashed to just 1/8 (88 percent) since early voting numbers have come in, and has just gone 4/6 in North Carolina, another crucial state, in the last couple of minutes.

“While Biden remains the narrow favourite, Trump’s chances look much better now than they did just an hour ago.”
