This is the dramatic moment a man is almost run over in his own driveway whilst shovelling snow when a car skids off the road.

The footage was captured by a home security camera in Upton, Worcester County, Massachusetts, on Friday October 30, where unusually heavy snow has been wreaking havoc.

In the video a man is seen clearing his driveway of the snowfall when a black car, which appears to be a four-by-four, skids onto the sidewalk, narrowly missing him as he jumps back out of the way.

The man falls backwards onto the ground as the car passes and skids to a stop, but is miraculously uninjured by what could have been a fatal accident.

Upton Police Department shared the video with the caption: ‘This video was shared with us earlier.

‘It is a chilling reminder of how quickly one can lose control on slippery roads.

‘Posted speed limits are designed for optimal conditions, and operators must adjust their speeds appropriately (slow down) to accommodate environmental factors such as snow and rain.

‘Thankfully no one was injured in this incident.’

Local Scott Bartlett commented on the video: ‘All wheel drive doesn’t mean all wheels will stop.’

Some parts of Massachusetts have seen up to a half-foot snowfall over the past week in what has been called a ‘rare October snowstorm’.

The National Weather Service tweeted Saturday: ‘A fairly large swath of 4.5 to 6.5 inches of snow fell across northeast CT, northern RI and into central/eastern MA.’

Thankfully the man was not injured despite being knocked to the ground during the incident. The car can be seen coming to a stop on the man's drive
