Paul Pogba has labelled his Manchester United teammate Marcus Rashford as the ‘Prince of England’ amid his inspirational bid to end child food poverty.

Pogba revealed Rashford’s new nickname when he took to Instagram to wish the 23-year-old England international a happy birthday.

United star Rashford has earned huge plaudits for campaigning for free school meals during the pandemic with his petition recently passing one million signatures as he continues to put pressure on the UK government.

Rashford came off the the bench against RB Leipzig to score a hat-trick in United’s 5-0 win in the Champions League. 

While off the pitch, Rashford has been campaigning to feed under-privileged children. 

Rashford created an online petition, titled ‘End child food poverty – no child should be going hungry’, on October 14. 

The petition reached the one million mark just two weeks after it was created and has continued to rise constantly as more members of the public support the footballer’s campaign.

The petition comes with the tag-line: ‘Government should support vulnerable children & #endchildfoodpoverty by implementing 3 recommendations from the National Food Strategy…

‘To expand access to Free School Meals, provide meals & activities during holidays to stop holiday hunger & increase the value of and expand the Healthy Start scheme.’

Rashford is likely to pick up the Helen Rollason Award – given for ‘outstanding achievement in the face of adversity’ – for his work.
