Carol Kirkwood: BBC weather star left blushing after off-camera move is exposed

BBC Breakfast’s Carol Kirkwood, 58, was loving life doing her weather reports from Hampton Court Palace earlier in the week, and even got distracted by the home grown pumpkins as we inch ever closer to Halloween. During the broadcast, she decided to have a go at some pumpkin picking before getting on with her weather forecast but she underestimated just how heavy they are and was outed for getting side-tracked from her job.

Taking to Twitter during the show, a user known as BBC Breakfast Dog, shared a clip of Carol and her pumpkin and hinted that it became somewhat of a hinderance.

“This is what I have to produce each day…” they wrote.

“@carolkirkwood too busy picking pumpkins to tell the weather!”

Carol responded with a stream of laughing faces but didn’t deny the claim.

Reporting from the Tudor estate, the forecaster had Dan Walker and Louise Minchin in a fit of laughter back in the studio, as she was late for her broadcast before introducing them to the orange veg.

“Time to find out what’s happening with the weather this morning, Carol is at Hampton Court Palace… somewhere…” he trailed off as the camera panned to the location where Carol was no where to be seen.

Suddenly, she ran into frame as Dan hooted with laughter.

“I’m sure she’s going to pounce… there she is!” the host giggled as the meteorologist ran into shot with a whopping great umbrella to shelter herself from the drizzle.

“Sorry, I just had to run off and get my umbrella because I was getting soaked!” she apologised.

“This is one of them, and was grown here like they all have been!”

It’s safe to say, Carol was pretty impressed and may have taken a gander around the pumpkin trail herself!

Elsewhere on their trip to Hampton Court, the BBC Breakfast star became somewhat of a wingman.

The fan-favourite had some handy advice for her colleague when it came to chat-up lines, after she captured a shot of him trying to “chat up” a figurine, many of which are dotted around the castle grounds.
