Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reacts to Marcus Rashford heroics in RB Leipzig win

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has spoken out after his side’s Champions League win over RB Leipzig on Wednesday night. Marcus Rashford scored a sensational hat-trick as the Red Devils picked up all three points. And it was a good performance from the Red Devils, who now have two wins from two in the competition.

United went 1-0 up through Mason Greenwood, with the England international finishing neatly in the 21st minute after good work from Paul Pogba.

Then, the Rashford show.

The England international scored twice in quick succession for the Red Devils, with Anthony Martial then converting a penalty – which Rashford gave up.

And, to add gloss to the win, the 22-year-old got his hat-trick.

It was a terrific performance from United who, in a group many consider to be the group of death, have now picked up back to back victories with two stellar showings.

Meanwhile, Rashford himself said: “I think the manager wanted me to up the tempo. That for us means going forward,” he said.

“There was definitely spaces there. We got Bruno and Paul on the ball. We looked dangerous throughout and that we could score every time we went forward.

“It was a real team performance.

“The ones who started did well and the substitutes did well too.

“We can’t ask for much more than that in terms of the attitude and the intent to go and kill the game off. It worked in our favour.”

Rashford gave Martial the penalty despite being on two goals at the time, but the 22-year-old has downplayed his actions.

“A little bit, a little bit,” he said when asked if there was much of a discussion over the spot-kick.

“I feel confident with Anthony taking them as well. So no problem.

“It’s about the next game now so it’s important for us to get three points.”

On fellow goalscorer Greenwood, he added: “Not surprising. He’s a top player. He needs to keep his head down and keep working hard. He will be an unbelievable player for us.”
