Cristiano Ronaldo has labelled coronavirus testing as ‘bulls***’ after testing positive for the illness for a third time, which forced him out of Juventus’ clash with Barcelona.

The Portugal international recorded another positive Covid-19 result on Tuesday after first testing positive for the illness on October 13.

As a result Ronaldo will not come up against long-time rival Lionel Messi in the Champions League group stage on Wednesday night and will have to watch the tie at home.

Ronaldo revealed that he was ‘feeling good and healthy’ on Wednesday morning in an Instagram post and also slammed Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) testing – the typical form of Covid-19 testing – as ‘bull****’.

Ronaldo has been self-isolating at home in Italy since he tested positive for coronavirus while away on international duty with Portugal over two weeks ago.

The 35-year-old recorded another positive result last Thursday and had hoped to return to action for Wednesday’s clash but another positive result on Tuesday dashed his hopes.

Ronaldo was asymptomatic when he tested positive days after playing for Portugal against France and Spain and posing for a team photo at dinner and has continued to display no symptoms.

Friends have revealed that he ‘feels like a beast forced to stay in cage’ with the star frustrated in quarantine, revealed Tuttosport, as reported by Calciomercato

His reunion with rival Messi was the pick of the ties when the Champions League groups were drawn but fans will have to wait until December 8 for the match-up. Two of the sport’s greatest ever players have not faced each other in the Champions League since the semi-final between Real Madrid and Barcelona in the 2011-12 season.

The Portugal superstar has missed three matches for Juventus already – Andrea Pirlo’s side beat Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League last week but have been held to two draws in Serie A.

Ronaldo has been keeping busy in his home gym to ensure he stays fit for his return. He shared a clip on his Instagram page last week where he is seen dancing and singing while cycling on the gym bike, sporting an eye-catching new buzzcut.

Ronaldo has been keeping himself separated from his family members during his time at home in quarantine, with the rest of his loved ones on a different floor, and the forward is able to maintain his fitness levels by using an outdoor gym.

The Juventus forward has been active on social media during his time in quarantine. He posted a picture on Instagram of him lounging by his swimming pool, alongside the caption: ‘Don’t let what you can’t do get in the way of what you can do.’

The five-time Ballon D’or winner also posted a selfie on Instagram sitting at his dinner table, amid the news of the second test, with the caption: ‘Thursday style!’

Ronaldo is under investigation for breaking coronavirus rules with Italy’s sports minister saying the Juventus star ‘did not respect’ protocols with his flight home from Portugal duty while infected.
