Kirstie Allsopp 'demands apology' after furious public spat with GMB host Piers Morgan

Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan, 55, was embroiled in a very public Twitter spat with Channel 4 star Kirstie Allsopp, 49. The pair clashed in March after the Location, Location, Location star was criticised for travelling to her second home in Devon during lockdown.

Piers has since claimed that Kirstie complained ITV chiefs following their clash and requested that the TV anchor apologise.

It comes after Kirstie had received backlash about visiting her second home in lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic.

At the time, Piers told the Location presenter to quit moaning and support NHS workers.

He has since claimed the presenter wanted an apology following their Twitter row.

“She got a load of TV execs to call me up trying to get me to stop and apologise,” Piers remarked.

“I was like, ‘You’ve got to be joking’. It was a very short phone call. I said, ‘I’m entitled to my opinion and I intend to keep saying it’, which they accepted.”

He added to the Mirror: “Everyone’s going to have an opinion but you should respect opinions you don’t agree with.”

Following the backlash of her trip to Devon, Kirstie took to Twitter and wrote at the time: “The last 24 hours has been utterly horrible, full of vile, unpleasant and frankly frightening comments.”

She told Metro: “We thought, what do we do? Do we go to the place which already has food in the freezer, already has stuff, you know, I got more loo roll in this house.

“I don’t need to buy more loo roll. I’m kind of a classic, eldest, first child and incredibly organised.”

The Channel 4 presenter added: “So I didn’t need to go out and buy more paracetamol or take anything from anybody else. I have all that I need here.

“So when we got this obviously worrying diagnosis, we came to the place where we were safest where the dog could be walked, without going outside.”

The pair’s Twitter spat comes after came just days after Kirstie had been muted while appearing on GMB as she attacked Piers’ criticism of the Government’s handling of the pandemic.

Kirstie claimed it was important to be “calm and sensible” with the nation in lockdown – but Piers reminded her that “people are going to die”.

The GMB host asked: “You don’t want me to challenge government ministers about this nonsensical farcical mixed message?”

Kirstie replied: “If you are too angry…” but was unable to finish her sentence.

Piers claimed that it was not intentional but they had to go to an advert break.
