The UK drama series, Peaky Blinders, has been a global success thanks to its availability to viewers across the world via Netflix. The gritty 1920s gangster offering has also flourished thanks to having Hollywood actor Cillian Murphy playing the gang leader, Tommy Shelby. The historical title created by Steven Knight is the latest popular series to undergo the franchise treatment, with a number of games in various genres adorning the Peaky Blinders name already. Many gamers would testify that this story is crying out for a Mafia-style open-world game, though, which could be a possibility in the future.

Peaky Blinders Franchise is Expanding

There have been five seasons and 30 episodes of Peaky Blinders to date, and there look set to be future instalments as it still fetches an average of more than 3 million viewers per episode when broadcast on BBC One. Viewers can’t get enough of the trials and tribulations of the Shelby family, and this has encouraged game developers to create titles to placate fans of the show when waiting for new episodes.

For example, Peaky Blinders is the latest in a long line of series to be turned into an online slot game, and is available to play at PartyCasino. This is one of the sites recommended by Bonusfinder thanks to its generous welcome bonus, which is a deposit match of 100 percent up to $200. The symbols are all the main characters including Tommy and Arthur Shelby, and the game features the gritty and memorable soundtrack from the series.

For console players, there is Peaky Blinders: Mastermind, which is a puzzle adventure game from FuturLab that can be played on the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, or Microsoft Windows. Players control the main characters from the series and attempt to pull off daring and audacious crimes.

Mafia: Definitive Edition Could Lead to Similar Games

Peaky Blinders: Mastermind earned fairly weak reviews, and many gamers would argue that this was not the type of console game they were expecting when they heard the name. Indeed, the dark and dingy industrial city of Birmingham in the 1920s would be the ideal location for a realistic and uncompromising gangster game much like Illusion Softworks’ 2002 offering, Mafia.

Now that the classic gangster epic has been remade for modern consoles as Mafia: Definitive Edition, there is a chance that this could lead to another boom in the number of gangster games that drop onto consoles in the next couple of years. If this proves to be too popular to ignore, a developer may see Peaky Blinders as a potential theme for a game made in a similar style. The series certainly features enough action to keep players entertained, and a game could expand on some of the secondary characters’ storylines further.

There are no reports of a Peaky Blinders game made in the same style as Mafia yet, but it is promising that other games based on the series have been made. If the rebooted Mafia offering kick-starts a new gangster craze in gaming, Peaky Blinders could be an excellent option for an open-world game.
