Rafael Nadal swaps tennis rackets for golf clubs, finishes sixth in professional event

The Spaniard, who was born in Mallorca, swapped his tennis rackets and balls for golf clubs and balls as he competed in the Balearic Golf Championship less than two weeks after winning at Roland Garros.

Turns out he is equally adept on the fairways and greens as he is on clay, grass and hard courts.

Playing against 59 other golfers, most of whom were professional players, the 34-year-old Nadal finished nine over par after a final round 77, meaning he was tied for sixth position.

The Mallorcan finished 10 shots behind eventual winner Sebastian Garcia, who finished one under par to take home the title.

Nadal reportedly has a handicap of + 0.3 and has competed in the Balearic Golf Championship previously.

He is also a talented footballer, and as a child, actually preferred football to tennis. As a child, Nadal’s physique meant he played with the older kids but eventually, he chose to focus on tennis instead.

Earlier in October, Nadal won his 13th French Open title, equaling Roger Federer’s record of 20 single grand slam titles.
